Bethesda

Bethesda Chapel was built in 1824 as part of the Methodist New Connexion and was enlarged in 1863. The present building, which is now known as Bethesda Church, was opened in 1880 and was extensively refurbished in 1997.

Programme and Opportunities

Worship and Study

Sunday morning worship at 10.30 am followed by coffee

Sunday School (ages 3 - 18) on Sundays at 10.30am.

Sunday evening worship (summer months) at 6 pm

Tuesday Fortnightly Bible Fellowship

Serving and Meeting People

Monday Afternoon: Ladies Meeting, monthly during the summer, weekly for the rest of the year.

Monday evening: Male Voice Choir rehearsal

Wednesday afternoon, Rendezvous (1st in the month)

Thursday evening: Beth Greet singers rehearsal

Saturday morning: Coffee Morning - first Saturday in every month from 10 am.

Car Boot Sale - at least once a quarter

Get-Together Group: meet about every six weeks in the evening (no fixed day of the week)

Christian and Community Involvement

We participate in Churches Together in Elland and District.

We  support NCH, Methodist Homes and Christian Aid.

We act as a venue for the Townswomen's Guild, the Blind Society and the Forget-me-not Trust.

Through our involvement with Christian Aid we have a link with Temple Emmanuel Church, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
